In defense of the economy hotel

in progress ideas/thoughts on airbnb and how Patricia Heaton could save us all.

 

Large hotel chains such as Marriott have consistently stated that they do not see Airbnb as a threat to business.  And that may be true for now, especially for luxury hotels that may just be in another league altogether.  But from what I've read, I think it's very plausible that upper-end economy hotels like Holiday Inn Express, Days Inn, or Ramada have something to worry about.  Here are some ideas for tackling this hypothetical scenerio, using Holiday Inn Express as an example.

Audience: lower middle class adults ages 30-45

  • business trips, traveling salesperson
  • couples' weekend fun
  • treating yourself during a road trip
  • over-stressed moms

campaign idea 1: spokesperson "Frankie Heck" from "The Middle" (Patricia Heaton)

We want to reach people who might be overworked or stressed.  Emphasize that Holiday Inn can provide the pick-me-up that you need.
