ART2WEAR LOGO {contest winner}

  "Art to Wear" is an annual fashion show at NC State University.  It is hosted by the College of Design in collaboration with the College of Textiles.  Attracting an audience of 4,000 +, it is one of the biggest events on campus each year!  I won the logo contest for the 2011 fashion show.  It was the 10th anniversary of the show, so I wanted to go with a design that represented tradition.

In visualizing tradition within an innovative and creative context, my mind went immediately to Art Nouveau.  It is a classic and easily recognizable art movement that encapsulates the attributes of Art to Wear that I wanted to emphasize particularly for an anniversary;

* organic forms

* humanist, rudimentary line weight

* femininity

Obviously, I took a lot of inspiration from Edward Mucha. I wanted to capture his own unique variation of line weight--mainly referencing his iconic stylized lucious locks of hair! Everything about this logo is organic--driving inspiration from botony for the dress folds, which morph into a ribbon like structure to enclose the form.
