An informative video about Raleigh NC's public art piece, the "Cree Shimmer Wall". It includes excerpts from a live interview with Thomas Sayre [the designer] along with video and time-lapse footage of downtown Raleigh and surrounding areas. The Art + Design advanced media studio worked in conjunction with the City of Raleigh Arts Commission to produce informative videos about various public art pieces throughout the city. The video's objective is to pay homage to the growth of downtown Raleigh in general with a focus on the Shimmer Wall as a symbol of its energy and liveliness. To echo the sentiment of "shimmering" throughout, simple graphic elements blink on and off quickly. Timelapse footage also captures this kind of flickering movement. The project aims to pack in lots of activity and information but still remain reflective and calming; which to me, is what the Shimmer Wall as an art piece is all about.
